DOUG VAN SANT has been swing dancing since 2006 and is now a competitive dancer who travels all around the country, recently placing in national competitions.

LILY MONIR MATINI In her freshman year at Oberlin College, Lily co-founded the Oberlin Swing Society, known for its annual Oberlin Jazz Dance Festival. Lily has also peer-judged at the Eastern Balboa Championships, All Balboa Camp Detroit, Paris Balboa Shag Festival, and the Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown. She was an Eastern Canadian Champion and National Jitterbug Champion in 2003, American Lindy Hop Champion in 2004, Balboa Rendezvous and Swing Fling Champion in 2005, Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown Champion, Rhythmic Arts Champion and Virginia State Open Lindy and Balboa Champion in 2006, and most recently, the Jam Cellar Couples Champion in 2007. She has also earned top-ranking titles at events such as: All Balboa Weekend and The Eastern Balboa Championships. Lily has appeared in numerous films, TV programs, news specials, and tributes, most notably performing for an audience of over 140,000 WWII veterans, as well as President Bush and Tom Hanks, at the WWII Memorial Dedication in Washington D.C.

DAVID REHM is a professional dance workshop instructor specializing exclusively in the partnered swing dances Lindy Hop and Balboa. He is frequently featured teachng and judging at prestigious events dedicated to those dances throughout North America, Europe and Asia. In additioin to numerous awards, in 2006 David captured both the American and European Balboa titles with two different partners, winning the American Classic Balboa Championship and the Euro Bal Cup. He is the co-owner of one of the largest private collections of classic street swing dancing on film in the country. David is known for his vast amount of knowledge and unique brand of teaching, for which he has been called one of the great technicians of the dance. KATE HEDIN Kate Hedin began her slightly frightening workshop of Balboa and Lindy Hop in 2002, when she began dancing and teaching for Get Hep Swing in Cleveland. Her appreciation for the dance is only surpassed for her bizarre attractiion to dorky thin guys, which is why she partners and teaches wih Bobby White in Atlanta and David Rehm in Washington, DC. She recently took second place at the 2006 American Classic Balboa Championships and is the 2005 Intergalactic Balboa Champion as well as the 2005 Eastern Balboa Champion. Her passion is exploring and inventing footwork and styling variations in Balboa and Lindy that doesn't harm leads. Otherwise, Kate goes to school in Baltimore and spends her time explaining how to pronounce her last name.
