Aerials 101 with Sue and Gary (PARTNER REQUIRED)
For those who are new to dips, leans and aerials, or for the faint of heart. This class will cover some simple but impressive moves that will impress your friends but won't scare you to death. Sue and Gary promise to be gentle! Material taught will be different from the classes taught this past December.
Charleston Pattern with Sue and Gary
For intermediate/advanced dancers, this will be fast-paced and challenging.
Blues Dancing I and II with Sean and Liz
After a very successful drop-in class at Chevy Chase Ballroom in December, we were anxious to give Sean and Liz more time to help you develop your blues dance skills. You'll learn the theory of connection and lead-and-follow that is at the heart of this style, basic footwork, and some basic moves that are perfect to use for those more "soulful" tunes. In Blues Dancing II, you'll learn more variations plus musicality and interpretation.
Jazz Steps I and II with Craig and Susanne
Sad news--unfortunately, Craig and Susanne are down with very bad colds and we have to cancel their classes. We are so sorry for the disappointment!
Putting it All Together for a Jam with Tom and Debra
You've learned all this fabulous stuff and now you're wondering how to show it off to it's best advantage. The notorious originators of the planned jam will show you how to get on and off the floor, use your material for maximum effect, and how to leave them wanting more.
Advanced Aerials with Joe and Tabitha (PARTNER REQUIRED)
Everyone waits to see what Joe and Tabitha will throw at us in the next jam! Here's a chance to learn some advanced aerials from two of the best ever.
Collegiate Shag I and II with Joe and Tabitha
This 6-count basic is great for fast music and a ton of fun. Joe and Tabitha will start you out with basic footwork and some fun and flashy patterns that are easy to incorporate on the dance floor.
Connection and Musicality with Dabe and Janelle
Dabe and Janelle will teach you how to connect with your partner and the music at the same time! You'll learn how the structure of the music works to create breaks and emphatic phrases, and how to improve your lead and follow skills to use your dancing to properly interpret the music.
Fundamentals of Balboa with Dabe and Janelle
Well suited for--but not limited to--fast music, the eight-count shuffling basic step of Balboa has rapidly become a favorite in the DC area. Dabe and Janelle will teach you the basic footwork and theory plus a repertoire of usable moves for the social dance floor. This class is a great preparation for David Rehm's Level I Balboa class starting in March, plus the DC Balboa weekend, March 13-15.
Lindy Zen with Michael and Poppy
Michael and Poppy combine theory and application through practical exercises designed to help you unlock the secrets of great dancing. Smooth out your dancing and learn to work with, as opposed to against, your partner, and conquer the "Zen" of Lindy. Learn how the basics of high school physics apply to your dancing. Whatever your style or level of experience, this class will help you reach an exciting level of proficiency that will put you in the zone!
Flash and Trash with Michael and Poppy
You can never be flashy or trashy enough! Drips, drops, slides--the icing on the cake.
