This gala night features swing dance demonstrations by our dance team, the Eight Week Wonders, and a special appearance by Jean Veloz, Irene Thomas and Chuck Saggau, swing dance stars of MGM films of the 1940s, along with Ray Phelps (Jean's brother) and Adam Vallus. Dick Johnson was hand-picked by Artie himself to lead The Artie Shaw Orchestra, which plays the original charts that made it one of the superior bands of the swing era. Local songstress Robin Cunningham of the Tom Cunningham Orchestra is guest vocalist. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the USO to support today's brave fighting men and women.
