We kick off this great weekend with a dance ina a new venue--the beautiful Sequoia Restaurant at Washington Harbor in Georgetown. The world-reknown ARTIE SHAW ORCHESTRA plays a wonderful evening of traditional big band swingmusic. Bandleader DICK JOHNSON was handpicked by Artie Shaw himself to lead the orchestra, using Artie's original charts.

Perched on the waterfront overlooking the Potomac River, Sequoia is a beautifully expansive restaurant with a hardwood floor and breathtaking views. Parking is available in the Washington Harbor garage for $7. Also, Sequoia is NON-SMOKING this night.

What a fitting tribute to the original "Groovie Movie!" Imagine yourself in the US Armed Forces at the height of WWII. A long way from home, you yearn for music, dance, company and the chance to hold someone special in your arms. You head down to the local canteen. The hall is draped in red, white and blue bunting; the floor is filled with servicemen and their sweethearts, dancing to the big band tunes of the day.

The spirit, style and sounds of that unforgettable time are recreated in this special gala. Honor our past and present American troops as Tom and Debra and the DC Young Professionals invite you to the Officer's Club, whee a sumptuous buffet, review of the United States Air Force Color Guard, special greeting by a representative of Andrews AFB, beginner swing dance lesson with Tom and Debra, and dance demonstrations by our guests and teachers await. This will be a truly memorable evening!
