SINGCO RHYTHM ORCHESTRA
Saturday, September 12
Beginner swing lesson with Tom and Debra 8-9pm; dance 9pm-12midnight
$15
This delightful big band specializes in the hot jazz of the late 1920s, the romantic and swingy 1930's and the Benny Goodman/Tomy Dorsey/Glenn Miller "High Swing" of the 1940s. Hot, swinging and completely entertaining, the SRO will take you back in time and thoroughly excite you with it's nostalgic look at the big band repertoire. SingCo has been the featured band for private parties to national conventions, appearing at the National Archives, Cultural Tourism for DC for the National World War II reunion in 2004, Union Station, and even a presidential inaugural ball. Tonight, SingCo will concentrate exclusively on the traditional hits of the Big Band Era as we pay homage to Jean Veloz.
Making the evening even more memorable, we'll have special dance performances by Ben and Jean Veloz with her brother Ray Phelps.
