In January 2014, an extraordinary teenaged singer hopped a time machine from 1957 and landed on the doorstep of four Washington DC area rockabilly musicians. They got together originally just to play a single show—a Buddy Holly tribute—but quickly realized the combination should become a regular band and the Rock-A-Sonics were formed. Their deep playlist and variety of styles and tempos have made them a favorite of the DC/MD/VA/PA swing dance community. The Rock-A-Sonics are now playing festivals, rockabilly weekenders, car shows and dances all over the country. The Rock-A-Sonics are: Willie Barry on vocals and guitar, Eric Hurtt on guitar and vocals, Tommy Bowes on drums, Louie Newmyer on upright bass and vocals), and Kim Reynolds on piano and steel guitar.
Ryan Cain is a gifted singer, songwriter, master of several instruments, and possesses amazing vocal versatility. He is a local treasure in north-central West Virginia and we're excited to present them for their first swing dance in this area. Ryan has released two albums and just returned from a successful show at the huge Nashville Boogie weekend in Tennessee. His only previous area appearance was last year when he wowed everyone headlining the annual Buddy Holly tribute in Bethesda. Ryan Cain and the Ables are Ryan Cain on vocals, guitar, piano, and upright bass, Travis Evans on drums, and Brandon Elmore on upright bass.
This will be a fantastic dance night with two shorter individual sets, capped off with a longer "battle" set with lots of interplay between these two great bands!
