Blue Vipers of Brooklyn
Drop-in beginner swing/Balboa lesson 8:30-9pm, dance 9pm-12midnight, $15
The Blue Vipers of Brooklyn are an early jazz, swing, and blues band, composed of acoustic guitar/vocals, upright bass, homemade washboard percussion, trumpet and saxophone. Their repertoire of witty songs from 1920's and 30's is augmented by original tunes with moving yet sometimes-bawdy lyrics and catchy four-part vocal harmony. With influences ranging from Fats Waller to Willie Dixon, Louis Armstrong to Hank Williams, and Les Paul and Mary Ford to the Mills Brothers, the Blue Vipers are a refreshing swing band that will keep you coming back for more! Gottaswing first introduced DC audiences to the Blue Vipers in October 2008, and are happy to bring them back again.
